    Private Pension..La Garrita de Alajuela, 15 minutes from the airport. Very quiet and private. Beautiful rooms and gardens. Owners speak English, German and Spanish.

    Do not let the tour books discourage you from visiting the Capital of San Jose. It has changed, tremendously, over the last 10 years and has a lot to offer. It has beautiful historical architecture, informative museums and lovely boutique hotels and restaurants.

    Hotel Fleur de Lys -

    This is my personal favourite, Victorian Mansion located in the cultural heart of downtown. Impeccable rooms, quiet, wonderful restaurant and the best breakfast. Cozy bar. European owned. Walking distance to most attractions or short cab ride.

    The hostle and and hotel are separate. The hostle is great for backpackers. The hotel has lovely large, high ceiling rooms with comfortable beds, nice linens and very clean bathrooms.
